Francisco Lindor: The Smiling Star of the New York Mets

Early Life and Career

Francisco Lindor, born Francisco Miguel Lindor Serrano on November 14, 1993, is a Puerto Rican professional baseball shortstop for the New York Mets.

Lindor played shortstop at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, where he was named a first-team All-American by Baseball America.

He was drafted eighth overall by the Cleveland Indians in the 2011 MLB Draft and made his MLB debut in 2015.

MLB Career

Lindor quickly established himself as one of the best shortstops in the MLB, winning the Gold Glove Award in 2016 and 2019 and the Silver Slugger Award in 2017 and 2018.

He was also named an All-Star four times (2016-2019) and finished in the top 10 in MVP voting in 2017 and 2018.

In December 2020, Lindor was traded to the New York Mets, where he signed a 10-year, $341 million contract.

Personal Life

Lindor is known for his infectious personality and his "Mr. Smile" nickname.

He is married to Katia Reguero and has a son, Francisco Miguel Lindor Jr.

Lindor is also involved in various charitable endeavors, including his own foundation, the Francisco Lindor Foundation.
